Privacy Policy

WattaPro, Inc.(“WattaPro,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the WattaPro platform (the “Platform”), a marketplace connecting tradespeople and contractors across the United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use our Platform.

By using the Platform you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account registration: name, email address, phone number, password, and account type (tradesperson or homeowner).
  • Trade profile: trade specialty, business name, license number, insurance status, years of experience, city, state, ZIP code, and hourly rate.
  • Job postings: job title, description, location, budget, and contact information.
  • Messages: content of messages sent through our internal messaging system.
  • Reviews and ratings: review text and star ratings you submit.
  • Payment information: subscription plan selections; payment card data is handled entirely by our payment processor (Stripe) and is never stored on our servers.
  • Communications: emails and support messages you send to us.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, search queries, and time spent on the Platform.
  • Device data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and device identifiers.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: session cookies, persistent cookies, and local storage. See Section 8 for details.
  • Log data: server logs including access times, referring URLs, and error records.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Identity verification and background check providers (with your consent).
  • License verification databases.
  • Social login providers if you choose to sign in via a third-party account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create, maintain, and secure your account.
  • Facilitate connections between tradespeople and job posters.
  • Process subscription payments through Stripe.
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, job alerts).
  • Send marketing emails if you have opted in (you can opt out at any time).
  • Display trust badges (Email Verified, Phone Verified, Background Checked, Licensed & Insured) on your public profile.
  • Protect platform safety — detect fraud, spam, and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
  • Analyze and improve Platform performance and user experience.

3. Contact Information Visibility

WattaPro protects your personal contact information through our contact gating system:

  • Your phone number and email address are not visible to other users until a job has been mutually accepted by both parties.
  • Messages containing phone numbers or email addresses are automatically flagged prior to job acceptance.
  • Once a job is accepted, contact information may be revealed to facilitate completion of the work.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Other users: your public profile data (name, trade, city/state, trust badges, reviews) is visible to other users. Your contact details are gated as described in Section 3.
  • Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), SendGrid or similar (transactional email), Vercel (hosting). All providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Background check providers: only with your explicit consent.
  • Law enforcement: when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
  • Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data is transferred.

5. Data Retention

  • Active accounts: we retain your data for as long as your account is active.
  • Unverified accounts: accounts that have not verified their email address are automatically deleted after 48 hours.
  • Deleted accounts: upon account deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for fraud prevention.
  • Messages: message records are retained for 12 months after the last activity in a conversation, then automatically deleted.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

6.1 All US Users

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: request that we correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Opt-out of marketing: unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.

6.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have additional rights:

  • Right to Know: the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect.
  • Right to Delete: deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: we do not sell personal information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Right to Correct: correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: you may limit our use of sensitive personal information.

6.3 GDPR Rights (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under GDPR/UK GDPR:

  • Right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and portability.
  • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Our legal bases for processing are: contract performance, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and consent (for marketing).

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • TLS encryption for all data in transit.
  • AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest.
  • Row-level security (RLS) on all database tables — users can only access their own private data.
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) available for all accounts.
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing.
  • Automatic deletion of unverified accounts after 48 hours.

No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at admin@tradebasehq.com.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Necessary cookies: required for the Platform to function (authentication sessions, language preferences). These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how users interact with the Platform (page views, feature usage). You may opt out.
  • Marketing cookies: used to deliver relevant advertisements. You may opt out.

You can manage your cookie preferences using the cookie consent banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing your browser’s local storage.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us at admin@tradebasehq.com.

10. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to our Platform. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
